In a follow up to a previous Combustion Industry News item, the US Department of Energy, through its Office of Fossil Energy’s Carbon Capture program, has announced up to US$30 million (€26.4 million) in funding for front-end engineering design studies for carbon dioxide capture systems. The funding is for cost-shared research and development, and the FEED studies are designed to give a comprehensive understanding of the costs of deploying carbon capture systems, which would be used to guide investment decisions and perhaps also policy development. More information on the funding is available here.
