Today marks the end of an era for the IFRF Newsletter team in that Patrick Lavery, our Combustion Industry News reporter, is leaving us to move on to pastures new. He will be starting a new role as Urban Development Specialist with the Asian Development Bank based in Manila, with his new responsibilities precluding him from continuing to work as our CIN reporter.

Patrick has been associated with the IFRF for 22 years, having first spent six months at IFRF in IJmuiden in 2002 under the supervision of Peter Roberts and Neil Fricker, through a Marie Curie scholarship. He returned to Australia in 2003 but continued to work on a casual basis for IFRF, publishing Combustion Files and also articles in IFRF’s online Industrial Combustion Journal. Since 2012, he has provided his Combustion Industry News round-up blog for IFRF as a key feature of the IFRF bi-weekly Monday Night Mail e-newsletter as an ongoing assignment. On behalf of the IFRF Management and Newsletter teams, I wish him every success in his new role and hope that his association with the IFRF can pick up again in the future.

This of course means that we need to find a new CIN Reporter to continue to provide a round-up of topical combustion related news. So if any of our readers is interested in taking on this (paid!) role, or knows of someone who might be able to join us, please get in contact. It is a part-time assignment and provides a great opportunity to gain some additional income, keep abreast of the latest news and stories in the clean energy field, and of course to share your findings with the IFRF international community.
