The Institute of Power Engineering – Research Institute (IEn) is one of the largest research institutes in Poland and Central Europe in the field of energy technologies. The Institute is a modem research and development centre supervised by the Polish Ministry of Economy.

The Institute provides research works as well as measurements, tests and analyses for the creation of new knowledge in a broad range of technologies of energy generation, transmission, distribution and use. Permanent mission of the Institute is focused on new solutions development, innovative energy products and services implementation in practice, such as fuel cells, renewable energy sources, smart grids, emissions abatement, distributed energy generation, energy efficiency and alternative fuels utilisation.

The IEn employs about 450 researchers, engineers, technicians and administrative staff and is composed of Central Unit in Warsaw, Gdańsk Branch, Ceramic Branch CEREL in Boguchwała (near Rzeszów), Thermal Technology Branch in Łódź, Heating and Sanitary Technology Branch in Radom and Prototype Production Branch in Białystok.
