Nine countries – Poland, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary and Ukraine – have formalised their collaboration on hydrogen as the 3 Seas Hydrogen Council, taking its name from the Baltic, Black and Adriatic seas that border some of its members.

The signing of a term sheet agreement took place at the Hyvolution hydrogen conference in Paris at the end of January, with the members aiming to use the Council to accelerate the transition to using hydrogen so as to improve sustainability and energy security.

The association was first announced in Poland in May last year, and through the number and proximity of its members aims to usher in common standards and better knowledge sharing.
