  • The most recent General Assembly of the IFRF Comité Français took place earlier this month on 16 November 2023. Attended by 24 members, the meeting was held at the offices of CETIAT near Lyon. As reported previously by IFRF, CETIAT became an IFRF member in 2023 and is an expert in R&D, testing, calibration and training

    A selection of the presentations from the meeting are available on request from administration@IFRF.net. These were given by:

    • Lucille PAYET on two studies led by Alliance Allice on CCU and on fuels with low carbon impact;
    • Nicolas BUREL & Adeline PILLET on ADEME sectoral transition and combustion issues;
    • Alain BRILLARD from LGRE on slow combustion of spherical magnesium particles in fluidised bed;
    • Driss LARAQUI from Fenix Energy and Hyron Energy on the production of recyclable iron powder for decarbonized energy production; and
    • Nicolas JOURET from KU Leuven on a demonstration project of green fuel co-combustion in a gas turbine.

    In the afternoon, the participants visited the CETIAT test facilities for domestic furnaces, based on solid, liquid, and gaseous fuels (including hydrogen), together with air handling systems.

    In addition, the bureau of the French Committee was renewed for the next 3 years, with the following positions confirmed:

    • Jean-François BRILHAC (LGRE) and Anna PUBILL MELSIÓ (Air Liquide) as secretary and deputy-secretary
    • Phuc Danh NGUYEN (Arcelor Mittal) and Alain QUINQUENEAU (Engie) as treasurer and deputy treasurer,
    • Sébastien CAILLAT (Fives Stein) and David HONORÉ (CNRS CORIA) as chair and co-chair

    Toufik BOUSHAKI of CNRS Orléans was thanked for his efforts as Secretary during the last 3 years, which included the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic!

    Finally, the French Committee welcomed GRDF, France’s leading natural gas distribution operator, as its newest member starting from 2024- more details on this exciting news will follow in a subsequent IFRF blog post.
