  • Eni has signed a Letter of Intent to develop state-of-the-art data centres with a planned IT capacity of up to 1 GW. The data centres will be fully animated by blue power energy from gas-fired plants paired with CCS technology to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

The Letter of intent was signed with MGX, a leading AI investment fund, and G42, based in Abu Dhabi.

The first facility will be developed in two phases of up to 500 MW of IT capacity, equal to Italy’s current installed capacity. This facility will be supported by a new dedicated power plant, with CO2 capture and storage at the Ravenna CCS hub.

Eni also signed an agreement with Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar, the UAE’s clean energy leader, and Taqa Transmission, a specialist in electricity transmission. The agreement will see long-term power offtake arrangements in Italy using renewable energy generated in Albania and transmitted via a subsea interconnection between the two countries.
