• Scientific Committee holds first organisational meeting for IFRF 2027 Conference

  • The Scientific Committee met for the first time last week to kick-off preparations for the 2027 IFRF Conference, which will take place on 11 to 13 May 2027 in Houlgate, Normandy in the north of France. The conference entitled Industrial Combustion in the Era of Decarbonisation will be held in the Centre Sportif de Normandie, which can accommodate up to 200 participants in both conference room and amphitheatre formats.

    The conference will follow a broad theme that echoes the objectives of IFRF, which has direct relevance across a wide range of industrial and power sectors.  Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

    • Clean & Alternative Fuels: Hydrogen, Ammonia, Syngas, Biomass, Solid Fuels, Metals
    • Combustion Processes: Low‑carbon & Metal Combustion, Industrial Heating, Furnaces & Boilers, Flares, Emissions Control
    • Tools & Methods: Modelling, CFD, Diagnostics & Measurement Techniques, AI
    • Industrial Sectors: Steel, Aluminium, Glass, Cement & Lime, Ceramics, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Minerals, Chemicals
    • Innovation: Heat Recovery, Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (CCUS), Emerging Technologies
    • Stationary gas turbines
    • Special Focus: Pilot & Demonstrator Projects

    The preliminary timetable for author submissions was discussed and agreed as-  

    • 1-page abstract- submission deadline: mid-November 2026
    • notification of abstract acceptance: mid-January 2027
    • end of early bird registration: end of January 2027
    • 5-page paper submission for publication in the Conference Proceedings : mid-March 2027

    Please note that in line with the 2025 IFRF Conference,  we will be giving authors the option to publish their work in high impact journals including Frontiers in Fuels and Measurement:Energy.
