As part of its mandate, the Clean Hydrogen Partnership is required to ensure that independent opinions and advice from the wider scientific community on the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), work programmes and developments in adjacent sectors are considered.

It has therefore opened a survey which offers the opportunity to gather opinions and advice in a structured way. The outcomes of this survey will be analysed and reported anonymously as input to the independent advisory workshop, which will take place as part of the Hydrogen Week in November 2023. The report may be published on the website of the Clean Hydrogen JU, while a summary of the whole text will be included in the Programme Review Report.

Moreover, the analysis of the survey may also be considered in the upcoming revision of the SRIA, expected to take place in 2024, towards the middle of the current programming period.

The questionnaire is described as relatively short, including 3 free text questions, with the expectation that it will take no more than 15 minutes to complete. The survey (link to survey here) is open until July 21st 2023.

As if to underline the importance of hydrogen, the global hydrogen market could more than double to $1.4trillion per year by 2050, according to new Deloitte research reported recently.  Green hydrogen could account for 85% of the market by this date, the Green Hydrogen: Energizing the path to Net Zero report forecasts. The demand for clean hydrogen in iron, steel and other heavy industries could exceed 250 MtH2/y, or 42% of total demand. This shows the importance of IFRF industrial member input to the Clean Hydrogen Partnership survey!
