Honeywell is to deploy its carbon capture technology in Korea and South-East Asia in conjunction with Korean power company SK E&S, the US-based company has announced.

The ‘advanced solvent carbon capture’ technology will be deployed through the Honeywell UOP (formerly Universal Oil Products) division, and the two companies are currently working to apply it to a natural gas-fired power plant owned by SK E&S, with the technology able to capture over 95% of CO2 from flue gases.

TB Cha, Head of the Net Zero Technology Center at SK E&S, said of the collaboration that it “will further complement SK E&S’ portfolio of end-to-end environmentally friendly solutions to decarbonise both SK E&S’ assets and in the future our customers’ assets, as we aim to be a leader in decarbonising Korea and Southeast Asia”.
