Australian engineering company Worley is to provide front-end engineering design and procurement and engineering services to QatarEnergy for its LNG CO2 sequestration project in Ras Laffan, Qatar.

The project aims to capture as much as 4.3 million tonnes of CO2 per year from the production of LNG at seven trains at QG North (field expansion, presumably) and three trains at QG South. Captured carbon is to be injected into new injection wells.

Worley says of the project that it “aims to further instil confidence to expand the CO2 sequestration technology in the future to include the remaining trains at QatarEnergy LNG South and North.”
