The University of Edinburgh is to rerun its online course on carbon capture and storage through the EdX platform (used by many universities around the world). The free course goes for five weeks and covers topics such as the potential to make fossil fuels “safe to use” in the context of the Paris Climate Change Agreement, CCS and negative emissions, and geological considerations. It is introductory level, the instructors being Mathieu Lucquiaud (who also sits on our Industrial Combustion Journal Editorial Board), Mark Wilkinson, and MennatAllah Labib, all at the University of Edinburgh. The timing of the release of the course is to coincide with the lead up to the 2019 United Nations Climate Change Conference, to be held in Madrid (rather than the originally planned Chile) between 2-13 December.
