Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation has delivered a test carbon capture plant to Asahi Group’s Research & Development Center. The group, perhaps best known worldwide for its beer, has a corporate goal to become carbon neutral by 2050, and the test capture plant will process flue gas from one of the company’s boilers. Toshiba ESS’s technology uses chemical absorption-based post combustion capture technology, with the solvent absorbing CO₂ under low temperatures and releasing it under high temperatures for carbon-capturing. If the test is successful, promising affordable and reliable capture, Asahi plans to roll out the technology across its businesses.
