SLB Capturi has successfully demonstrated its proprietary carbon capture technology at NG Nordics’ Hazardous Waste plant in Nyborg, Denmark.
In a press statement in which it referred to the achievement as “a significant milestone in the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate industries” and “the world’s first demonstration of post‑combustion carbon capture applied to high‑temperature hazardous waste incineration,” the company said the campaign at the Nyborg facility provides a blueprint for effectively managing flue gas from high-temperature incineration
Hazardous waste incineration presents unique challenges for carbon capture due to high-temperature processes, variable flue gas composition, and elevated levels of contaminants. SLB Capturi said that despite the challenges, its technology delivered robust performance across key metrics, including energy consumption, carbon capture rates, and emissions control, demonstrating that carbon capture can play a vital role in reducing emissions from essential waste management operations.
