Enel’s Green Power division is to work with Chilean power company AME and possibly Chilean oil company ENAP, Siemens Energy and Porsche to develop the first Chilean green hydrogen plant, which is due to be operating in 2022. Although only a pilot, it will be one of the largest plants in Latin America, with the electrolyser being powered by onshore wind energy in the southern Patagonia region. Chile is one of the countries expected to become a significant producer of green hydrogen in the future due to its geography being especially suited to the production of cheap renewable electricity.
