1. The Editor-in-Chief’s role

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the concept, structure, and content of the IFRF Handbook. The Editor-in-Chief is supported in this activity by:

• The Handbook Producer at IFRF NET who is responsible for the production of the web based [GLOSS]html[/GLOSS] and [GLOSS]pdf[/GLOSS] versions of the Combustion Files and their incorporation into the IFRF NET web site;
• The Sub-editors who take responsibility for individual Combustion Files or clusters of Combustion Files.

2. Activities undertaken by the Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief:

• Oversees the whole Handbook structure and seeks to populate it with appropriate cabinets, drawers and folders containing combustion files
• Identifies, with the Producer, potential Sub-editors to take charge of specific sections of the handbook
• Agrees with Sub-editors the specific combustion-files to be prepared in each area and the potential authors 
• May act as a sub-editor and/or author in appropriate areas
• Undertakes a final review of all new Combustion Files prior to publication to:
  • Achieve consistency in style and approach
  • Review and amend the list of keywords used to search for the CF
  • Check for opportunities to make links with other CFs throughout the CF database
  • Identify secondary links for each CF to parts of the filing system outside the brief of a specific sub-editor
• Maintains, with the Producer, a Status Report of all CFs published, in production or abandoned
• Advises the Producer on the layout, structure and operation of the Handbook web site from a user viewpoint
• Reviews the longer term development of the Handbook as a support service for IFRF members, including its use for education purposes (in conjunction with the Editor-in-Chief of the IFRF Academy) and for revenue/membership generation.
