Producing a Combustion File requires effort and concentration on the part of authors, due to the constraints placed on the length of each Combustion File. At the same time, production of a concise version of an element of knowledge often serves to clarify that knowledge and to conserve it for future use. In addition, the following benefits will flow to authors:

  1. The Author will be credited with a refereed publication  – the Combustion Handbook is registered as ISSN 1607-9116
  2. There is no charge to Combustion File Authors for these publications
  3. Because of the web/HTML media in use, each Combustion File published will be no more that a few pages of MSWord text/figs.
  4. The publication will be based on established information rather than unpublished information, and offers an opportunity to republish or review established work.
  5. The Author’s name will appear on the Combustion File in HTML and PDF formats.
  6. The Author will be acknowledged in the IFRF Monday Night Mail announcement of the new Combustion File. The MNM is received by well over a thousand subscribers in the world wide combustion community
  7. The Author and/or his/her sponsoring organisation (typically the author’s employer) will be acknowledged through the inclusion of their Logo in the Web based version of their Combustion File.
  8. Where available and required, there will be a hyperlink to the author’s/sponsor’s web site from their logo.
  9. Authors will be recognised by users as having world class competence in the area covered by the Combustion File
  10. Combustion File users are likely to approach authors if they need additional support in the subject covered by the combustion file. This may be a source of new business or provide R&D opportunities.
