  • EBN and Gasunie have opened the tendering process for the supply of line pipe for the 200km Aramis offshore transportation pipeline.

Aramis, a cooperation between EBN B.V., Gasunie, Shell and TotalEnergies, has Project of Common Interest status, and is one of five projects selected to contribute to the construction and development of a multifaceted, EU-wide CCS infrastructure.

Together, the projects will support the transport of nearly 35 million tonnes of CO2per year from industrial emitters towards permanent geological storage. The Aramis pipeline alone will have a 22mtpa capacity once operational, linking Rotterdam’s Maasvlakte industrial area to designated CO2 storage sites in the North Sea and forming a central link in the broader Aramis value chain.

Aramis Programme Manager Annemarie Manger says the tender is the result of years of preparation by the partners and that further tenders will be opened as soon as possible. These will cover trunkline installation and onshore work as well as construction of the D-HUB component and the supply of key equipment such as valves. According to Carbon Herald, these packages taken together “represent one of the largest coordinated CO2 transport buildouts currently underway in Europe.”

Parties in the Aramis value chain plan to take final investment decisions (FIDs) in 2026-2027 and to be operational in 2030.
