I am pleased to announce that the next Topic Orientated Technical Meeting (TOTeM) entitled Oxy-fuel combustion and CCUS, will be held on 27-28 May 2026. Organised by the IFRF in conjunction with its Comité Français, it will be held at the Gas- und Wärme-Institut, one of the IFRF Preferred Research Partner organisations located in Essen, Germany.
Oxy-fuel combustion is widely studied and applied in a number of industrial combustion processes. It is particularly suited to high-temperature process industries as a means to improve process efficiency and to reduce pollutant emissions. It is also being investigated as a preparation to facilitate carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS). The TOTeM will focus on all aspects of adding oxygen in a combustion process, for gaseous, liquid, or solid fuels, to partially or totally replace air, as well as for CCUS in practical applications, including in hard-to-abate sectors such a cement, glass, steel, and power generation.
Authors will be invited to submit a maximum 300-word abstract for oral or poster presentations addressing either of the two topics, or both combined. Researchers, engineers, and PhD students from industry and universities are encouraged to present their work in progress on any of these questions.
Further details of the event, including instructions for abstract submission and registration will be published on the IFRF website soon. The preliminary programme will be included in due course, although the opening keynote lecture from Jörg Leicher, Research Engineer / Combustion Specialist at the GWI, is already confirmed. So for now, please add the event to your diaries!
