The work presented has been performed at a 0.5 MW pulverised fuel combustion test facility. The main emphasis was laid on the partitioning behaviour of the elements Zn, Ni, Cr and Mn. Four elements of three different volatility groups. For all four elements emission limits are set by different German or European regulations. The combustion tests, which comprised of the co-combustion of RDF at different shares from 0 to 25 % co-fired on a thermal basis, determined the influence of the RDF share. Ash mass and element balances were carried out for the combustion runs of 0 to 20 %th. The concentrations of the elements Zn, Ni, Cr and Mn in the ashes leaving the plant were examined and Bottom Hopper Relative Enrichment (BHRE) enrichment factors were calculated for the three devices air preheater, cyclone and bag filter along the flue gas path. Particle size distributions of the off gas were determined for three different fuel shares co-fired (0, 5 and 15 %th). The emission limits were held for some elements and ash flows but not for every single element. Especially Cu and Zn emissions measured were higher than regulated. For those elements measures to reduce the emissions have to be taken or the handling of the ashes has to be adapted accordingly.
