Summary

The joint meeting of the French and Italian Sections of IFRF and the Combustion Institute took place in Pisa at the Hotel San Ranieri.  The two day event was exceptionally well attended, attracting more than 100 delegates, amongst them both PhD students and researchers from as far afield as Israel, Romania and the Czech Republic, as well as Britain and Belgium. 

The meeting was organised around four thematic sessions, each introduced by an invited keynote speaker.  Poster presentations and a poster session followed.

Session A: Towards an accurate modeling of multi scale combustion systems

Session B: Heterogeneous and spray combustion
Keynote: Osvalda Senneca, IRC-CNR, Naples, Italy

Session C: Air pollution control and environmental impact including CO2 emissions
Keynote: Alessandro Saponaro, Ansaldo, Gioia del Colle, Italy

Session D: Alternative fuels
Keynote: Frédérique Battin-Leclerc, LRGP, Nancy, France

A site visit to the IFRF research facility at Livorno and a gala dinner on the evening of 23 April completed the programme.
