More information is available today about TOTeM 29.  This TOTeM will take as its topic the CHARACTERISATION OF BIOFUELS FOR CO-COMBUSTION. The TOTeM will start with the traditional TOTeM process of reviewing the state of the art and the needs of industry relating to the topic. In this case, extensive use will be made of material produced within two completed European R&D Framework programmes in both of which the IFRF was a participant and co-funder, the BIOFLAM and POWERFLAM2 projects. Industrial partners in these projects have also been invited to set the agenda for the Workshop to discuss current R&D needs on day 2 of TOTeM 29.

In a new innovation, TOTeM 29 will also a feature a ‘Partnership Exchange’ on the second day. The Exchange will take the form of a poster session at which participants will be able to explore potential partnerships that might target the EC’s 7th R&D Framework Funding Programme to be launched early in 2007. It should be noted that participation in EC co-funded R&D Projects is not restricted to European organisations.

TOTeM 29 will be held on October 12th and 13th 2006 at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The TOTeM will be organized and chaired by Professor Hartmut Spliethoff of TUM, who is also the IFRF’s Superintendent of Research. Incoming IFRF Director Leo Tognotti will also participate at the meeting, which will also be an opportunity to hear more about the IFRF’s proposed new Members’ Research Programme on Solid Fuel Combustion Characterisation.

A TOTeM 29 Flyer and Registration form are available at http://www.calendar.ifrf.net/event.html?id=191 . Early registration is recommended as participation will be limited to 50 delegates.
