On 27th May we informed you that Dr Stanley Santos[Photograph – Left] had joined the staff of IFRF NET as a Senior Scientific Officer and that we looked forward to welcoming him to IJmuiden. It took some time to arrange his visa/work permit for the Netherlands  but this has been completed and today he has joined us at the Communications Centre.

His arrival is most welcome  Stanley will be heavily engaged with the development of our new Research Publication service, which is planned to come on line in September.

Stanley is a citizen of the Philippines and a graduate Chemical Engineer from the De la Salle University, Manila. Very recently he successfully defended his PhD thesis, presented at the University of Portsmouth, UK, on the subject of pollution reduction in the utilisation of renewable energy.

In addition we would like you to welcome Patrick Lavery [Photograph – Left] who has recently joined the Communications Centre as a EuroFlam Visiting Investigator.

He is working on the development of the IFRF Online Combustion Handbook, with a particular emphasis and fine particulates and heavy metals from combustion processes. Details of Partick’s back ground and project can be seen at: http://www.euroflam.net/lavery.html

Patrick takes over from Marta Rivas who recently completed her period as a EuroFlam Visiting Investigator  We wish Marta well in her future career in which she will initially spend a period teaching environment related subjects in Bolivia.
