Lulea University of Technology is offering a PhD position within the Marie Curie Research Training Network AETHER.

The project is focused on aero- and thermo-acoustical coupling effects in energy conversion processes, in particular with biomass as fuel. Of special interest will be powder burners that are used in district heating systems, power boilers and biomass gasifiers.
The project will involve large scale experiments in the ETC research laboratory (see http://www.etcpitea.se/eng/index.html) with both traditional experimental methods and laser optical (LDV/PDA) measurements. CFD analysis is a complementary tool that will be used to gain better understanding of what is happening in the experiments.

According to the rules of the Marie Curie program (see ftp://ftp.cordis.europa.eu/pub/fp6/docs/calls/mariecurie-action/r_rtn_200501_en_pdf.zip) the student must not be a Swedish citizen (unless he/she has been living at least 4 years abroad). The student will be employed by the university, hence all social benefits (health care, etc.) are included in the employment contract. The salary will be according to the salary scale for PhD students at the university.

We are looking for a student with a university master degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or engineering physics.
