ENEA, the Italian Agency for Energy, Environment and New Technologies, and the  Italian Association “CO2Club” are organising the international conference on “SUSTAINABLE FOSSIL FUELS FOR FUTURE ENERGY” (S4FE 2009) which will take place in Rome, Italy from July 6-10, 2009.

The Conference intends to promote a reciprocal technical and cultural exchange on the topic of Carbon Capture and Storage technologies and their state of the art.  In addition the conference aims to stimulate collaboration between public and private research groups, as well as to identify common areas of interest for theoretical and technological improvement, so as to promote CCS Technologies.

Technical sessions will feature the following topics:

  • CO2 capture (pre-combustion, post-combustion, oxy-combustion)
  • CO2 storage
  • plant integration
  • efficiency
  • combustion (flameless, combustion of hydrogen and different fuels, etc.)

Please refer to the IFRF Events Calendar for the programme and other details.

Combustion, Carbon Capture and Storage is also the theme of an invitation only event which takes place on 28 May in the Chemical Engineering department of Technical University Denmark.  About 100 researchers, representatives from industry and governmental organizations, politicians and NGOs have been invited to the workshop which will provide an overview of the technical solutions to reduce the emissions from power production, energy intensive industrial processes and marine transport.

The presentations and the discussions at the workshop will form the basis for a final report identifying the major technical, political and financial challenges to secure a fast decrease in the world’s net emission of CO2.  Further information about this report will be carried in a future edition of MNM.
