Yes they were a success, at least in terms of the comments received from the participants. Examples from new Individual Members are:

  • “I much enjoyed my first IFRF meeting”;
  • “Many thanks for an interesting TOTeM22 in Linkebeek. Everything was perfectly planned. Your staff and the staff from Laborelec did well”.

We must agree that the support that we received from Johan Vanormelingen and Martine Lecocq, and their many colleagues, was excellent. The meeting facilities allowed us to have two TOTeMs with a high degree of interaction.

We should also thank:

  • Both Chairmen, Barrie Jenkins for TOTeM21 and Johan Vanormelingen for TOTeM22 and their henchman, Neil Fricker working on behalf of the Handbook;
  • All the speakers for their clear pictures of the states-of-the-art;
  • And of course – all Participants.

Major plus points are:

  • The feedback was good. Both TOTeMs will help the IFRF to develop new programmes and approaches to both the Cement and Mineral Processing Industries and the Power Generation Industry.
  • A workshop for the review of results from the CemFlame series of trials has been recommended.
  • An approach for the future development of programmes and reporting, specifically for the Power Generation Industry has been proposed and accepted. This will be developed over the coming months.
  • The new initiative for a Common Interest Group for Gas Turbine combustion has been endorsed – but with the strong recommendation that the IFRF must attract more Member Organisations among the Gas Turbine manufacturers.
