The 164th meeting of the IFRF’s Joint Committee was held at Sheffield University on May 31st and June 1st 2016 under the Chairmanship of IFRF Vice-President Gerard Flament. In addition to the usual agenda items, the Articles of Association for a UK based IFRF were discussed and approved. These are the rules that will govern the management and operation of the IFRF when it relocates to the UK. Their approval will enable Sheffield University to push ahead with registering the IFRF under UK company law as a Company Limited by Guarantee (ie not for profit).

The meeting approved the IFRF’s 2015 Annual Report and Financial Statements. A Monday Night Mail announcement will be made when copies are available for download from IFRF.NET.

The meeting also approved the appointment of Dr Sauro Pasini of ENEL, Italy as senior Vice President of IFRF. Dr Pasini will take over as IFRF President when Professor Hartmut Spliethoff of TUM, Germany stands down at the end of 2016.

Professor Viktor Scherer of Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, who has recently taken over the chairmanship of the German National Flame Research Committee (DVV) was welcomed as the new representative of the DVV on the IFRF Joint Committee.
