Aalto_EN_21_RGB_4_PNG_Prev_0.jpgJonatan Skagersten, the new FFRC secretary, has a master’s degree in energy technology from Aalto University where he is currently pursuing a doctoral degree. His research is on thermal treatment of solid wastes in a pilot scale circulating fluidized bed.

Aalto University was founded in 2010 when Helsinki University of Technology, the Helsinki School of Economics and the University of Art and Design Helsinki were merged. Aalto University is located in Finland, in the Helsinki Metropolitan area, with close to a million inhabitants.

Aalto University is a multidisciplinary university where science and art meet technology and business. Aalto’s mission is to work towards a better world and create solutions to meet the greatest challenges facing society through top-quality research and pioneering education.

The University has six schools with nearly 20,000 students and 4,700 employees, 390 of whom are professors. There is a wide variety of bachelor’s and master’s degrees awarded at Aalto University, and it also offers doctoral programmes in all fields of study.

We wish Jonatan a very successful and rewarding time at the position of FFRC secretary. At the same time we would like to thank to his predecessor, Aino Leppanen, for her great contribution at that position and wish her every success in the future.
