Following deliberations of the IFRF Joint Committee at their 159th meeting in Paris last month, IFRF is currently seeking a high level candidate to fill the strategic technical role of Senior Investigator at the Livorno facility.  The candidate search renews and the original call for technical personnel which was published at the end of 2010 in the expectation of the IFRF’s involvement in two EU co-funded projects.

The projects are now underway, albeit after delayed starts, and as a result of the associated increase in planned experimental activity, the necessity for reinforcement of the IFRF’s scientific team is now making itself felt.  In addition, and linked to further internal developments in the intervening period, the requirements from the encumbent have been somewhat modified.

As such, the IFRF Joint Committee is pleased to invite applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Senior Investigator at the Livorno facility in Tuscany Italy.  In addition to a Ph D degree in sciences, chemistry or engineering, the successful applicant will have a minimum of five years’ experience in the planning and execution of experimental campaigns and/or CFD modelling activities, and the supervision of technical personnel in a combustion, emissions or energy systems related environment.  Experience and expertise in preparing research proposals, data analysis and research reporting are also required.

In addition to their technical background, candidates for the post of Investigator should be dynamic and enthusiastic, with excellent communications and relationship skills as well as a strong commercial network and business acumen.   Fluent English is mandatory and the ability to speak at least one other European language preferable.

It is envisaged that the position will be filled by end 2012 latest.  A competitive salary is offered, and relocation costs will be paid.

Potential candidates are invited to contact Tracey Biller with a view to sending a short CV and a letter of reference, preferably from an IFRF fellow.  A letter of motivation will also be invited.
