The IFRF Joint Committee meets annually in June. A key agenda item at the 2012 meeting of the IFRF Joint Committee was consideration of the Strategy Proposal emerging from their two day strategy redefinition workshop which took place in Turku in June 2011.
The Strategy Proposal was formulated by IFRF Marketing staffer Tracey Biller in consultation with Dr. Madge Lyman who conducted a survey amongst IFRF Members early last year and then led the Joint Committee through the strategic process at Turku. The proposal had been reviewed in March of this year by the IFRF Executive Committee, and was presented to the Joint Committee with an action plan.
The strategy and associated plan were approved in principle. Key activities in the plan, which began its roll out immediately after the summer break, include the implementation of a new Membership Structure and the redesign of the IFRF website to enable more effective networking.
In the next issue of MNM we will introduce the new Membership Structure which, amongst other modifications, will allow independent professionals, retirees and students to benefit from individual IFRF Membership.
Second IFRF Vice President
At Maffliers the Joint Committee also approved the election of Gérard Flament, previously Senior Vice President Technical and R&D at Lhoist, as a second IFRF Vice President flanking Professor Hartmut Spliethoff of Technische Universität München.ENEL and UNIPI Agreements
When the IFRF was established in Italy in 2007, fixed term hosting agreements were signed with both ENEL and the University of Pisa, stipulating the conditions under which the two organisations would cooperate with the Foundation. Before the end of this year, new drafts of each of these agreements will be prepared for the perusal of the Joint Committee by IFRF General Secretary Sauro Pasini and Director Leo Tognotti. Recommendations will also be made where necessary regarding variations in the IFRF Statutes.
