The American Flame Research Committee’s 2011 Combustion Symposium opened today at the Hyatt Regency in Houston. Proceedings kicked off with a Flare colloquium and delegates heard US EPA – Region 5’s Brian Dickens who presented a “U.S. EPA Flare Activity Overview”. The two day flare session follows-up and expands upon last year’s premier industrial flare event, TOTeM 36 “Industrial Flaring” and is to be followed by a burner session and a furnace session.
IFRF Director Leo Tognotti is to chair TOTeM 37, “Innovative and advanced co-firing technologies” on Thursday and Friday this week Wroclaw, Poland. Prof. Tognotti will also deliver one of the keynote presentations entitled “Strategies and approaches for modelling full scale biomass co-firing”. Details of the other keynote speakers and topics can be found in the final programme, now available for download from the IFRF Events Calendar.
As usual, the proceedings of these technical meetings will be made available online to IFRF Members. Alerts will be published in MNM. Also watch MNM for the first announcement about MC 17, the IFRF International Conference which takes place in Paris in the middle of next year.
