At the invitation of Swedish University KTH, 17 individuals representing some 23 organisations participated in a meeting in Brussels to establish a Consortium to bid for EC financial support for a Research Infrastructure that will operate in the technical area of Biomass Conversion and Biorefineries.

Although they will become direct members of the consortium, IFRF also represented certain EFRI Members who were unavailable to participate in the meeting in person.  After a presentation by and questions to the EC’s energy representative for the FP7 Capacities programme, the organisations present and represented agreed to go forward with the proposal and established a work plan to complete the preparation of the proposal in the coming two weeks.
