  • A warm, IFRF welcome to you all as we start this new and special year. 2018 is a landmark year for us as it marks our 70th birthday – which coincidentally we share with the beloved National Health Service (NHS) in the UK (fun fact for you).

Firstly, let us say thank you to everyone who has been a part of IFRF in one way or another over the past 70 years and to you for continuing to support us. This year promises to be filled to the brim with exciting opportunities and new ventures. So here is a quick overview of some of the great things that are in store this year – also keep up to date with our anniversary celebrations through #IFRFat70:

    Seventy Years of Success (1948-2018)
In 1948, the International Flame Research Foundation was formed in IJmuiden, Netherlands and before being relocated to Livorno, Italy until its current home of Sheffield, UK. To celebrate this landmark birthday, we are launching IFRF’s ‘Seventy Years of Success (1948-2018)’ a short overview of the life of IFRF to date. This brochure walks you through the key achievements of IFRF, breaks down the periods of history which helped shape this organisation and looks at what is in store for the future of IFRF. Later this year we will publish a more indepth look at the history of IFRF – so watch this space.
Download your free copy of ‘Seventy Years of Success’ here.

We also have our new logo commemorating this great landmark. Look out for this logo on our publications and across our social media sites! Plus we will be tying all these activities together using #IFRFat70 – join us by sharing your memories of IFRF using the hashtag. Click here to view the logo.

    Reigniting the…
As part of the year-round anniversary celebrations, we will soon be launching our ‘Reigniting the…’ campaign which will showcase key points from throughout our history each month and look at their importance and influence both then and still to this day. We are inviting some familiar faces (past and present) to contribute to this series of reflective pieces to provide some valuable insight into the history of IFRF. If you would like to contribute to this campaign please contact us at administration@ifrf.net.

    #IFRF2018 Conference
Bringing this all together is our #IFRF2018 Conference which will be held in Sheffield, UK from 30-31 May. We had a great response to our call for abstracts – thank you to everyone who submitted their abstract – all were of great quality and we look forward to sharing the programme with you all shortly. In the meantime you can check out each of our great event sponsors (below) and visit our Eventbrite page (here) to book your place at the event. We will see you in May!
