Monday 1st April is the registration deadline for the Flame Days and Gasification Workshop organized by the IFRF National Committees of Finland and Sweden.   The event takes place on 17th and 18th April 2013 in Jyväskylä, Finland.

Invited speakers in the first day’s program include:

  • IFRF Vice president, Prof. Hartmut Spliethoff, Technical University of Munich: The role of solid fuel conversion in future power generation
  • Dr. Christian Fredriksson, LKAB: Combustion in rotary kilns for iron ore pellet production at LKAB
  • Prof. Mikko Hupa, Åbo Akademi: Challenges in combustion of low grade biomasses – Recent research
  • Mr. Tero Saarno, Jyväskylän Energia Oy: Experiences on co-firing peat with wood in BFB and CFB plants of Jyväskylän Energia and means to maximise the portion of wood in the fuel

The special Gasification Workshop on the second day features two technical visits and a full programme of presentations by invited speakers from the field of gasification research. The technical visits will take place in the afternoon. Delegates will have the opportunity to see both the 490 MWth CFB CHP power plant at Jyväskylän Energia and the VTT combustion pilot facilities.
