Last week saw the first meeting of the new IFRF Council, convened under the new articles and legal structure.  The main topics of discussion were about the forward strategy for IFRF as we move towards our 70th anniversary year in 2018, ensuring the services we offer to our members, and the activities we undertake to attract new members, are ‘fit-for-purpose’, revitalised and focussed on the future challenges for combustion research.

Items discussed included revamping Monday Night Mail (MNM) into a more modern format better suited to our readers, updating and refreshing the website, member database and archive access, and developing our online journal – Industrial Combustion.  We also discussed initial plans for our 19th Member Conference (MC19) to celebrate our 70th Anniversary year in 2018, and new training short-courses.

We will be updating you on these initiatives over the next few editions of MNM, and a preliminary announcement about MC19, so watch this space!
