  • With various European Commission (EC) Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation (R&I) Programme (H2020) energy calls relevant to IFRF members going ‘live’ in mid-May, here are two events that you might find useful if you are thinking about submitting a proposal…

Vision 2020 Energy Event, Brussels, Belgium, 5-6 March
This Energy Event is being organised by ‘Vision 2020: The Horizon Network’ (an open innovation platform for research organisations and businesses interested in participating in H2020).  Its purpose is to enable ‘matchmaking’ between academia and industry specifically targeting the H2020 energy calls within the EC’s 2018-2020 Work Programme.

Successful R&I in Europe 2018 – 9th European Networking Event, Dusseldorf, Germany, 15-16 March
This event is an opportunity for researchers and entrepreneurs from around Europe to pitch your ideas and identify possible European R&I partners for H2020 projects.  Please note that if you want to present your project ideas, you will need to act on this immediately, as the deadline for submitting your proposal idea (or indeed, existing project results) is 16:00GMT tomorrow (Tuesday 20thFebruary)!  For UK organisations, you may be eligible to receive financial support from Innovate UK to attend this event (travel and accommodation costs for two nights can be reimbursed up to a ceiling of £500 per person) – if you plan to attend this event and are interested in receiving financial support, please contact the EU Energy Focus team as soon as possible.

As a reminder, we have kept you informed of the development of the various energy calls likely to be most relevant to IFRF members via previous MNM articles.  The ‘Enabling near-zero CO2 emissions from fossil fuel power plants and carbon intensive industries’ (NZE) Calls on ‘Advanced CO2 capture technologies’,  ‘Conversion of captured CO2’, and  ‘Strategic planning for carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS)’ are all open from 15th May.  For more information on these Calls (and others anticipated to go live in 2019 and 2020), see the MNM article on ‘Latest update on the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation Programme (H2020)’ published on 30th October.
