The COMBURA symposium is the major annual event in The Netherlands for exchange of information on combustion research and its applications. It is a joint initiative of the Technology Foundation STW (Platform Clean and Efficient Combustion), the NVV (Nederlandse Vlam Vereniging) and the Dutch section of the Combustion Institute.

A new feature of the 2008 event will be the presentation of the NVV Combustion Award to the author of the winning Masters thesis presented during the symposium. The award has been instituted by the NVV in terms of its objective to promote combustion research.  As well as prize money of Euro 1000, the winner will be granted the opportunity to submit his or her paper for publication in the IFRF Journal.

Details of the award and the conditions applying to the submission of a thesis to the judging panel are downloadable from the IFRF Events Calendar at http://www.calendar.ifrf.net/event.html?id=289.  The deadline for submissions is 31 August 2008.  MSc graduates from scientific institutes in the Netherlands or Belgium are eligible to apply.

A first announcement for Combura 2008 with a call for papers is also available at the abovementioned website address.
