As announced in the recent December 2023 edition of MNM, Cenertec has become a new member of IFRF.  As they are based in Portugal, Cenertec will become part of the IFRF Associate Member Group (AMG). On behalf of IFRF, I am delighted to welcome Cenertec to the IFRF family and look forward to working with them.  Raquel Reis, Director of Cenertec, has kindly provided some background information on the company:

Cenertec – Centre of Energy and Technology, is a Portuguese company dedicated to professional training since 1981, which includes the organisation of intensive courses, specialisation courses, in-house company training and international conferences, in the fields of industrial engineering, energy, environment and management. The portfolio is complemented by international online courses in the areas of biomass, pyrolysis and fluidised beds.

Cenertec is the host of INFUB – European Conferences on Industrial Furnaces and Boilers – which has been held in Portugal since 1988. INFUB has attracted many participants from industry and the wide range of papers have considered fundamental research as well as topics of a more practical and applied nature. The next conference is INFUB-14 which will be held from 2-5 April 2024 in Algarve, Portugal. At the event, around 140 papers from almost 30 countries will be presented. The conference’s Organising Committee consists of Prof. Viktor Scherer, Prof. Neil Fricker, Prof. Sébastien Caillat, Prof. Osvalda Senneca and Prof. Albino Reis.

Cenertec also organises online and in-person training, where several participants from different companies and organisations are present, together with in-house company training. These customised courses incorporate the needs of the company / organisation in designing relevant training activities. Cenertec helps, in collaboration with the company, and based on the objectives, to elaborate the training programme that is to be implemented. In these cases, the training is usually provided in the form of “on the job training” in the context of the company.

Course participants are mainly engineers, managers and technicians from industrial and service companies, municipalities, governmental agencies, economic coordination bodies and people with a desire for life-long learning. The training philosophy of Cenertec is that of continuous improvement. Many training participants seek to complement and update their knowledge regarding the application in their professional activities and career planning.

Cenertec collaborates with experienced trainers of excellence with vast pedagogical and professional experience, who work according to the motto that guides the whole team: “teach what you practise and practise what you teach!”
