      IFRF Director

The IFRF team in Sheffield would like to say a big “thank you” to Matthew Billson, for all his hard work and wise insight in preparing the bid from the University of Sheffield to ‘host’ IFRF for the next phase of its life, and in helping its transition from Italy to the UK – including establishing IFRF Ltd (the ‘company limited by guarantee’ that now operates IFRF).

Matthew, a highly-regarded civil servant in the UK Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) with a sound track-record in policy-making, CCS and energy innovation, has been on secondment to the University of Sheffield’s ‘Energy 2050’ initiative, undertaking the role of Programme Director.  He is returning to London and BEIS at the end of August.  We are sure that we will hear much more of Matthew in the coming years – hopefully helping to steer the UK government wisely towards a sustainable energy future!

We wish him “all the best” and hope that we can coax him to attend the IFRF Conference in 2018 in his new capacity!  Thanks Matthew.
