History
We were established in 1948 with the creation of an International Flame Radiation Research Committee. This later became the International Flame Research Foundation (IFRF) in 1955 as a co-operative between the UK, France and the Netherlands and was headquartered in IJmuiden, the Netherlands.
Since then IFRF has grown into a network with members in over 20 countries worldwide including Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Mexico, China, Poland, Sweden, the UK and USA.
The book ‘Spirit of IJmuiden, Fifty years of the IFRF, 1948-1998’ published by Roman Weber covers the various research themes conducted by IFRF and is available to purchase here [link to IFRF Library].
2018 marks the 70th anniversary of IFRF and this is celebrated in our recent publication ‘Seventy Years of Success’ [link to the document] which tells the story of IFRF’s emergence, expansion and regular alignment to meet changing times and fresh challenges. It also looks ahead to the next chapter in the story of IFRF.
