Prince Charles, the first in line to the British throne, has pointed out ways in which the COVID-19 coronavirus is disrupting action on climate change. Behind-the-scenes diplomatic efforts and negotiations in the lead up to Britain’s hosting of the UN climate summit in November this year are being affected by the need to concentrate on the more immediate global threat of sickness. At the same time, restrictions on travel and congregations that have been put in place are also having a disrupting effect, and these could be expanded over a greater geographical area of the world in the weeks to come. Prince Charles made the remarks as part of his address to a gathering of water and climate experts in London.
