ScottishPower has become a 100% “green” power generation company with the sale of its remaining gas-fired power plants to Drax Smart Generation. Having now divested itself of all its previously held gas-fired plants and closed all its coal plants, ScottishPower is now generating all its power from wind turbines. The sale to Drax includes the 805 MW Damhead Creek plant in Kent, the 715 MW Rye House plant in Hertfordshire, the 420 MW Shoreham plant in Brighton, the small 60 MW Blackburn Mill plant in Blackburn (all combined cycle gas turbine plants), and two small hydropower schemes in Scotland.
