The Australian Federal Government has released its future gas strategy and set itself up for a tussle with the Greens over energy policy.

Clearly struggling with contradictory priorities, the Government maintains that Australia will meet its net zero target by 2050 but that new gas fields and terminals will be needed to sustain domestic demand and export requirements. Climate scientists argue that gas exports should be phased out and no new gas projects undertaken.
