Air Liquide has signalled its desire to step up its pursuit low- or zero-carbon hydrogen production, buying a 18.6% stake in Hydrogenics Corporation, an electrolysis and fuel cell company founded in Canada. The US$20.5 million (€18 million) purchase comes at the same time that Air Liquide agreed a deal with Hydrogenics to jointly develop proton exchange membrane electrolysis technologies. Both companies will be betting on the rise of hydrogen as a fuel in industry across the world.
