The Center for Research and Technology–Hellas (CE.R.T.H.) is a legal, non-profit Government entity organized under private law, with a mission to carry out basic and applied research. It is represented by 470 employees in five Research Institutes among which the Institute for Solid Fuels Technology and Applications (ISFTA) and the Chemical Process Engineering Research Institute (CPERI) and that are involved in this project. The first has a laboratory infrastructure on biomass gasification and dry gas cleaning, while the second emphasizes in pilot plant facilities. Within the frame of this project, the CERTH pilot scale and bench scale units will be used along with the analytical facilities. CERTH has extensive experience in biomass gasification, catalytic reaction engineering and catalytic processes relating to production upgrading and characterization of conventional fuels and biofuels and also in modeling and optimization studies. CERTH is/was involved in numerous EU funding project in the area of clean fuels and biofuels.
