The Technology Foundation (STW) under the platform of Clean and Efficient Combustion, and in cooperation with the Dutch Flame Research Committee (NVV) and the Combustion Institute – Dutch Section jointly organised Combura 2002 held in Nieuwegeins Business Centre, The Netherlands, 10th October 2002.
For two years in a row, the combined effort by the three organisations provided a very informative programme. This year, the meeting consisted of two keynote lectures, 18 presentations in parallel sessions and 17 posters contributed from both industry and academia.
The opening keynote lecture was presented by Professor Fred Lockwood of Imperial College, London. He discussed the application of mathematical modelling to industrial combustion processes. The closing keynote lecture was presented by Professor Norbert Peters of Aachen University of Technology on the essentials of turbulent combustion modelling.
To finish the day, the organisers awarded cash prizes to three young researchers for presenting the best posters. The first, second and third prize winners were given a sum of € 300, €200 and € 100 respectively.
For the best poster, the first prize was awarded to Mr. Verbiezen of the University of Nijmegan. The second prize was given to Mr. Derksen of the University of Twente and the third prize went to Mr. Vaz of the Technical University of Delft.
