BASF SE (BASF) and ANDRITZ Group have signed a license agreement for the use of BASF’s proprietary gas treatment technology, OASE® blue in a carbon capture project to be implemented in the city of Aarhus, Denmark. Aarhus has set itself the goal of becoming CO2-neutral by 2030.
The project aims to capture approximately 435,000 tons of CO2 annually from the flue gases of a waste-to-energy plant. ANDRITZ is the selected supplier for the carbon capture plant and is currently conducting pre-engineering.
ANDRITZ has selected the OASE® blue technology based on BASF’s extensive track record and deep chemical expertise. OASE® blue was developed specifically for large-scale carbon capture from sources such as fossil power generation plants, steam reformers, waste incinerators, or even the cement industry. The technology is delivered with highly stable, low-maintenance solvent solutions for various carbon capture applications.
The project’s implementation is contingent upon the customer receiving funding from the Danish CCS fund.
