Tara Wilkins, Marketing Manager – Missions, at the Satellite Applications Catapult, reached out to the IFRF recently to tell us about an opportunity for UK organisations to have free access to high-resolution satellite methane emissions data. This is as part of a programme, funded by the UK Space Agency, in partnership with the Satellite Applications Catapult and GHGSat.
Background
This programme could be of interest to members of the IFRF and suppliers of industrial flare systems because it offers UK organisations an opportunity to explore how satellite-derived greenhouse gas data could support their methane mitigation and elimination strategies. The programme is running until the 31st March 2025.
The programme offers UK organisations (for R&D purposes), at no cost, access to:
- Archive methane data for R&D,
- Satellite tasking (subject to approval),
On sign up, users get access to the archive data until 31st March 2026.
