The program for the 17th IFRF Member Conference “Clean and Efficient Fuel conversion in Industry” to be held on 11, 12 and 13 June 2012 in Paris is in development and will be finalized in the next weeks.

At present we can announce the plenary lectures by Prof. Yong Yan of Kent University, Canterbury UK, on “Advanced monitoring techniques for power plants and flames” and by Prof. Flemming Frandsen, DTU, Denmark who will review the work done in the last twenty years through IFRF-related projects on ash problems in solid fuel combustion.  Some keynotes have also been confirmed and include a presentation by James Seebold entitled “Products of Incomplete Combustion from Gaseous Hydrocarbon External Combustion in Jet-Mixed Diffusion Flames”.  A contribution from the IPPC bureau is also expected. 

A good number of abstracts have already been received for this key event in the IFRF calendar. These include a significant representation on the evergreen topic of ultra low NOx burner technology.  Other hot topics are oxy-combustion, diagnostics for industrial applications, biofuels and flares.  Sectors of industrial combustion other than power generation are well represented and include glass, steel, cement and oil refinery.  The contributions from industry and academia are well balanced, and the works present a good compromise between experimental and modeling approaches.

As some Members have requested additional time to prepare their contributions, the abstract deadline has been postponed to 15 February.  Thus it is still possible to submit an abstract.
