  • IFRF Membership is administered by eight National Committees for Flame Research and centrally via the Associate Member Group which coordinates services in those regions not covered by the National Committees. Each year IFRF’s National Committees host a range of meetings, events and symposia linked to our core themes around safe, clean and efficient industrial combustion.

    Here is a round-up of what they have in store for 2019:

    Italy – Comitato Italiano meeting held on 30th January 2019 in Pisa, Italy

    At the beginning of the year the recently-reconstituted Italian Flame Research Committee of IFRF (‘Comitato Italiano’ – CI) held a members meeting and an public combustion seminar at the School of Engineering of the University of Pisa, Italy.     France – Comité Français’ Biannual meeting; 14th June 2019; Piacenza, Italy

    The next Biannual meeting of the Comité Français de la FRIF will be hosted by Fives at their European Combustion Centre in Piacenza, Italy. More details about this event will be announced in MNM shortly.

    Finland and Sweden – Nordic Flame Days 2019; 28th – 29th August 2019; Turku, Finland

    The Nordic Flame Days is the Nordic meeting point for everybody involved in combustion or combustion related processes. The Nordic Flame Days 2019 will take place in Turku and is a meeting arranged jointly by the Finnish and Swedish National Committees of IFRF and the Scandinavian-Nordic Section of the Combustion Institute (CINS). The meeting also includes a CINS Topical meeting on alternative fuels for the future.

    USA – AFRC’s 2019 Industrial Combustion Symposium; 9th – 11th September 2019; Hawaii, USA

    The American Flame Research Committee (AFRC) will be hosting its Annual Industrial Combustion Symposium on 9th -11th September 2019, in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii. The AFRC’s Annual Industrial Combustion Symposia provides a unique forum for combustion professionals to network, display their work, receive direct feedback and learn from each other. This year there will be a Focused Discussion on Incinerators/Thermal Oxidisers during the Symposium.

    UK – The 1st Clean Energy Workshop; 7th October 2019; London, UK

    The British Flame Research Committee (BFRC) has joined forces with UK organisations including The Fuel and Energy Research Forum, the Advanced Power Generation Technology Forum, the Biomass and Fossil Fuel Research Alliance, the University of Nottingham Centres for Doctoral Training and the UK Carbon Capture and Storage Research Centre, to host the 1st Clean Energy Workshop. The event will include a keynote speech from Dr. Nina Skorupska, Chief Executive of Renewable Energy Association, on “Evolution or Revolution: A Personal Journey of the UK Power Industry since Privatisation”.     The Netherlands – COMBURA Symposium 2019; October 2019; TBC

    The next COMBURA Symposium will be held in October 2019, in the Netherlands. More details about this event will be announced in MNM shortly.

    Germany – DVV’s Annual meeting; 14th November 2019; Stuttgart, Germany
