  • The School of Engineering of the University of Newcastle, Australia, has vacancies (up to two positions) for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (Academic Levels B or C) within the Discipline of Chemical Engineering. These positions correspond to Assistant or Associate Professor in the United States and Canada.

The Discipline of Chemical Engineering comprises two main research focuses: energy and process safety and advanced particle technology. A successful applicant will be expected to be innovative and build a strong and vibrant research portfolio, develop successful teaching programs for undergraduate courses in Newcastle and off-shore, and share administrative responsibilities with other academics in the Discipline. Applicants in research areas within either research foci of the Discipline are encouraged to apply.

The Discipline of Chemical Engineering comprises a group of academics, all of whom are very successful in securing nationally competitive research grants and industry funding. There is a strong record of publishing in high impact journals and commercialisation of research outcomes. Recent examples of commercialisation success include the Jameson flotation cell, the Innova soil remediation process, the Reflux Classifier which is used in coal and mineral processing and a conversion process for waste halons, chlorofluorocarbons and by-product hydrofluorocarbons to fluoroelastomers. Each of these inventions has won major national awards for innovation and contribution to industry.
